The catchment area for the Kapuskasing Indian Friendship Centre starts at Smooth Rock Falls and heads west to Hearst along Highway 11 North Corridor.
This area is located within the Treaty No. 9 traditional homelands; most notably the Moose Cree Ililiwak. The catchment area is home to over 16,000 people. Most of the people who call this area home are non-Indigenous Francophone or Anglophone. The Indigenous in this area are of Moose River Basin descendants or have migrated from the Indigenous lands of the Swampy Cree, Anishnaabe, Algonquin or from other areas throughout Canada.
